TAIWAN; Pre-trip thoughts
This week our men's UCI team is traveling to the island of Taiwan to compete in the upcoming Tour de Taiwan, March 11th-March15th. Here are some of the rider's thoughts as they get ready for the trip;
"Taiwan is an exciting place to race - a small, but beautiful island just off the mainland of China.  It was my very first international race last season, so I come into the race this time with a year’s worth of experience!  Instead of apprehension, I’m coming into the race with energy, knowing I’m fully prepared to help put the team on the podium.  Can’t wait to experience the lively cycling culture, delicious food, and landscapes of Taiwan." - Cameron Piper (USA)
"This will be the first time Im going further West than California. So Im excited to get the feel of a new culture and to tackle a challenging event like the Tour de Taiwan. I also can't wait to try the food, I really like noddles and sea food so I can only imagine the good grub they will be whipping up." - Connor Brown (USA)
"I’m super excited to come back again this year and race in Taiwan. This was the first race of the 2017 season for me and still one of the best memories of my career. Taiwan is also home to GPS company Bryton. They have helped our team a lot and Im excited to visit their HQ in Taipei!" - Simon Pellaud (SWI)
"I very excited to go to Taiwan for the tour. The new food, the new people, the new cycling, Im happy to do this travel. This is my very first time in Asia so I want to go and enjoy the race and I also want to win. The race has a mountain and I like this." - Camilo Castiblanco (COL)
"My expectation is to contribute to the team, get a good result and learn about Taiwan. For example, what type of music do they listen to there. I don't know Asia and I hope it is an amazing experience." - Felix Baron (COL)
